"We have much to be proud of as a society, and it has been a privilege to share our progress and plans", says university rector Katrina Armstrong in a statement, according to the TV channel.
President Donald Trump's administration withdrew its support on March 7 and accused the university leadership of "passivity in the face of persistent harassment of Jewish students".
Last week, the government sent a letter to the university with demands that the leadership was forced to accept by Thursday at the latest for the support to be resumed. Among the demands was a ban on masking and to "formalize, adopt and announce" a definition of anti-Semitism, writes CNBC.
Katrina Armstrong writes in a letter that AP has taken part of that the university will conduct a thorough review of its educational programs on world regions, and "immediately start with the Middle East". Columbia University will also ban protests in academic buildings and prohibit students from wearing face masks on campus "in order to conceal their identity". Additionally, they will adopt a new definition of anti-Semitism.
Columbia University, which is one of the most prestigious universities in the USA, was in the spotlight last spring in connection with student protests against Israel during the war in Gaza.
Students held daily demonstrations and set up a tent camp in an attempt to get the university to stop cooperating with companies that have ties to the Israeli government.
