City advances after drama – without the injured star

Manchester City is clear for the league cup final in football after 2–1 in the semi-final away against Arsenal. This despite the fact that they lacked their attacking star Khadija Shaw, who was subjected to abuse on social media after the team's last meeting.

The Australian striker Mary Fowler became the big match winner for Manchester City. First, she thundered in 1–0 in the far corner, beautifully played by former Arsenal striker Vivianne Miedema, in the 26th minute. And then she set the decisive 2–1 with almost the last kick of the match.

In the fifth minute of added time, Fowler precision-shot the winning goal tight to the right post.

Earlier, she had missed a penalty shortly after Mariona Caldentey equalized for Arsenal – also via a penalty kick.

The victory was partly revenge for the 3–4 loss when the teams met in the league last weekend, partly a win for the team's attacking star Khadija "Bunny" Shaw. The Jamaican was reported to have been subjected to racist and sexist abuse after the last match against Arsenal and did not follow the team to the league cup semifinal.

Stina Blackstenius started for Arsenal, while Rosa Kafaji and Amanda Ilestedt remained on the bench throughout the match.

The final will be played at Pride Park Stadium in Derby on March 15. There, Manchester City will face Chelsea.
