Sales in the grocery trade between December 1 and Christmas Eve rose by 6 percent, compared to the same period last year.
Retail sales increased by 5.3 percent, and sales in the non-durable goods trade rose by 4.6 percent.
"This is in line with the forecast we published before Christmas, which indicates that Christmas trade will increase and that this year's trade will reach SEK 24.5 billion. Only the record year 2021 had a higher forecast, which indicates that the recovery of trade is finally underway," says Maria Mikkonen, chief economist at Swedish Trade, in a press release.
