The export ban is evident from a statement on Tuesday from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.
Among the now prohibited substances are the two base elements germanium and gallium, which are used in everything from screens to LED lamps, semiconductors, car batteries, and solar panels.
The export ban comes as a response to the US restricting the export of semiconductors and related materials to China.
As early as last August, China severely restricted its export of gallium and germanium.
China accounts for a majority of global production of the two elements: 97 percent of gallium and 64 percent of germanium, according to a report from Nordic Innovation, an organization under the Nordic Council of Ministers.
