According to a list seen by the news site Euractiv, tariffs on a range of cheese and dairy products are now up to 11.7 percent. Some companies, including Arla, will face slightly lower tariffs of 9.5 percent. This follows the conclusion of an investigation into EU subsidies.
The announcement comes after China imposed tariffs of between 21.9 percent and 42.7 percent on certain dairy products from the EU just before Christmas.
The tariffs were announced after China launched an investigation in the fall of 2024, which, according to the country, preliminarily found that exports of, among other things, cream cheese had been subsidized, negatively affecting Chinese producers.
