There was a sometimes heated atmosphere in Agenda's party leader debate on Sunday evening. The Center Party's party leader Anna-Karin Hatt pointed out that it "sounded like a youth center" when the Left Party's Nooshi Dadgostar time and time again spoke over the one who had the floor.
Even Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson referred to the debate as "undignified" and "garrulous" after the broadcast.
Now the Center Party wants to meet the other parties' party secretaries to discuss guidelines and approaches to both debate climate and code of conduct for social media.
We need to set clear rules, not just out of respect for each other - but also out of respect for the voters. They should be able to expect political representatives who can take debates and do it in a decent and good way, says party secretary Karin Ernlund.
According to Ernlund, a discussion between the parties regarding social media began at last year's EU election when the Sweden Democrats' troll accounts were exposed.
We need to have an agreement between the parties that one does not use false accounts and spew out threats, hate and falsehoods. It is not worthy of Swedish democracy, she says.
