The Canadian Football Association and the country's national Olympic committee appealed to the Sports Arbitration Tribunal Cas – now the decision has been made to dismiss the appeal.

The drone scandal also led to the International Football Association (Fifa) banning the national team captain Bev Priestman for a year from all forms of football, along with assistant coach Jasmine Mander and video analyst Joseph Lombardi. However, that part of the penalty was not appealed.

Despite the point deduction, Canada still has the opportunity to advance to the quarterfinals in the Olympic Games football. After wins against New Zealand and France, Canada is at zero points – and if they win against Colombia tonight, Canada will advance.

The match starts at 21.00.
