In Viaplay's new series "Läckbergs", viewers get to follow Camilla Läckberg and her husband Simon Sköld in their daily lives. Also included in the series are their eight-year-old daughter Polly and Camilla's three older children Wille, Meja, and Charlie, as well as the family's three employees.
Inviting a TV team into their daily lives was not a given, and it was important for Läckberg and Sköld that the children were really on board.
If any of them had been the slightest bit hesitant, we would have said no. It had to be all or nothing, and we were adamant that no one would be persuaded, says Camilla Läckberg.
Cool project
All four children wanted to be involved, however. "A cool family project" that can be fun to watch in the future, the children think:
We have no desire to be seen. But we hope that people see that we are pretty cool people, not just a bunch of "nepo-babies" or pampered celebrity kids, says Wille Läckberg Eriksson.
For the children, and also their parents, it feels important to show viewers that they are a completely normal family.
People don't believe it, they think our kids live a life of luxury and are spoiled. But they have had an extremely normal upbringing, even if there are extraordinary elements. Having three employees is not that common, and the kids have gotten to experience trips that not everyone has the opportunity to take, says Camilla Läckberg.
However, viewers can't expect any big arguments, conflicts, or quarrels.
The series is supposed to be as close to reality as possible, and we don't argue much. Our tone is more sarcasm, humor, and warmth. You'll get to laugh at us, and me, since I often look like "hey, come and help me" in the episodes, says Läckberg.
Positive
Spending time as a family in front of the cameras has actually also had unexpected positive effects, according to Simon Sköld.
We spend a lot of time with the kids in general, but during filming, we've spent time with a purpose, where we've discussed specific questions in a more structured way. It's been so interesting to take those discussions further with the kids, says he.
And I hadn't thought about how it feels to see how we in the family talk about each other in the individual interviews (recorded during filming, ed.). Simon and I rarely talk about how we feel about each other in front of the kids. And when I heard the big ones talk about what a great bonus dad Simon is, it just broke me, says Läckberg.
