Camilla Läckberg Eyes More Seasons for Netflix's "The Glass Cage"

Camilla Läckberg is behind Netflix's new crime series "The Glass Cage". And she is already planning for new seasons. I have a clear idea of how to take this forward, says the author.

Camilla Läckberg has created a new hero figure for "Glaskupan", Netflix's new crime series, which will be released on April 15. It's a series with a definitive end, but the hope is that the story about criminologist Lejla will become the next success from the bestselling author.

I would really like to see more seasons, and I already have a synopsis for season two, says Läckberg.

Abducted as a child

"Glaskupan" is about Lejla, who was abducted as a child. After nine months, she was freed, but the experience from her childhood traumatized her, and she has taken refuge in the USA.

But when her adoptive mother dies, Lejla travels home at the same time as a new similar kidnapping occurs in her hometown in Dalarna. Is it the same perpetrator?

Camilla Läckberg has long been fascinated by serial killers and wanted to write a series on the theme.

I sat at home one summer at the country estate Lumos and thought about serial killers, as I usually do, she says and laughs.

And then this idea just popped up in its simplest form, about a girl who was held captive.

"Touched on the surface"

Läckberg already has ideas on how future seasons about Lejla could look. The idea is that she will travel around Sweden and solve cases.

I would like each season to take place in a unique part of Sweden. Season two, in a hot summer Skåne, season three on the west coast in the autumn. To show off Sweden, explains Läckberg.

Léonie Vincent, who plays Lejla, is enthusiastic about a possible continuation.

It would be fantastic to delve deeper into this.

She thinks there's a lot left to tell about the character.

I just feel like I've touched on the surface. For me, there's a whole world to dip my toe into.

No green light

Camilla Läckberg has not received a green light from Netflix about a continuation.

I think they're waiting and seeing how the series goes, quite simply. It's probably reasonable somewhere.

Camilla Läckberg has been busy lately and not just as a crime writer. In recent years, she has also launched the soaps "Lyckoviken" and "Strandhotellet", written children's books about Super-Charlie, which have been made into a film, and recently launched "Läckbergs", a reality series about herself and her family.

She never wants to stand still – but always renew herself.

My biggest fear is to die of boredom. I'd rather risk a super-flop than get stuck in a creative comfort zone. That's how I keep my enthusiasm and develop, also as an author.

Age: 50.

Family: Husband and four children.

Debuted in 2003 with "Isprinsessan", the first of eleven crime novels in the Fjällbacka series. Has also written two books about the character Faye and three books about Mina & Vincent, together with Henrik Fexeus. Additionally, there have been several children's books about Super-Charlie, short story collections, and cookbooks.

For TV, Camilla Läckberg has created the soaps "Lyckoviken" and "Strandhotellet" for Viaplay and also her own reality series "Läckbergs", for the same streaming service.
