"Overall, traffic has flowed well," says Denny Josefsson, press spokesperson for the Swedish Transport Administration.
It is one of the busiest traffic weekends of the year and is now coming to an end. After the big midsummer celebrations, queues can sometimes be long, and this year will be no exception.
"There has been quite a lot of traffic on the Ölandsbron since this morning and it will probably continue into the afternoon," says Denny Josefsson.
According to the Traffic Editorial Team on Swedish Radio, several cars have broken down on the bridge and become stationary. The traffic jam is described as miles long.
Overall, the Swedish Transport Administration describes the situation as normal, even though accidents have occurred in some areas.
The first fatal accident of the weekend occurred on Midsummer's Eve on Highway 40, outside Borås. A couple in their 80s were trying to use an opening in the median barrier to change direction when they were hit from behind by a car. The couple later died on the way to hospital.
Shortly after 3 a.m. on Midsummer's Eve, the next fatal accident occurred when a motorcyclist ran off the road outside Länna in Stockholm. The rider was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but died later that night.
Traffic is expected to continue throughout the day. For Swedes who still have a trip home ahead of them, Denny Josefsson has some advice:
"Treat your fellow road users like your friends."
