The center proposes that the possibility of staying for particularly distressing reasons be reintroduced so that children who grew up with parents who have residence permits in Sweden are not deported when they turn 18.

According to the party's migration policy spokesperson, Niels Paarup-Petersen, such a "valve" is the fastest way to stop teenage deportations.

The party also wants children born in Sweden to parents with a residence permit to be able to apply for their own residence permits from within Sweden. C also proposes a transitional rule for people whose asylum applications have been rejected but who later changed course and received a work permit. They should be able to renew their permit without having to leave Sweden.

"We want a restrained but reasonable migration policy," says C leader Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist.
