The statue of Bridget Jones, who made her debut to the general public in the novel "Bridget Jones's Diary" in 1996, was unveiled in Leicester Square park on Monday, reports the BBC .
Zellweger first played Jones in 2001 in the film adaptation of the book of the same name and in three sequels. She was, of course, there.
"She's a lot cuter than I am. It's cute, I love it," says the Texas-born actor.
She believes that it is Bridget Jones's vulnerability and humanity that has made her so popular over the years.
We recognize ourselves in her. It makes it okay for us to be who we really are, imperfect.
Bridget Jones is not the only one to have been made into a statue in the park. Among others are Paddington Bear, Mr Bean and Mary Poppins.
