The Norwegian believes that Norway is violating the European Convention since he has to serve his prison sentence in solitary confinement.
He lives in a closed world, said Breivik's lawyer Øystein Storrvik when he pointed out that his client is being medicated with antidepressant drugs.
In February last year, Breivik lost on all points in the first instance, Oslo District Court. The 45-year-old appealed the decision to the Court of Appeal (equivalent to the Swedish Court of Appeal), which took up the case in early December and delivered its verdict on Wednesday.
Storrvik says that Breivik will appeal the verdict to the Supreme Court.
The court proceedings took place with Breivik's participation via video link from Ringerike Prison.
Anders Behring Breivik is serving a sentence of 21 years, so-called preventive detention – a prison sentence that can be extended – for the terrorist attacks on Utøya and at the Norwegian government headquarters during the summer of 2011.
Ever since he was convicted in 2012, Breivik has been kept separate from other prisoners.
