Brazil's highest court has rejected a request from Bolsonaro to obtain a temporary passport.
Judge Alexandre de Moraes stated as a reason that Bolsonaro currently does not hold any office that would require him to represent Brazil at the ceremony. The court also said that Bolsonaro was unable to provide an invitation.
Several legal investigations are ongoing against Bolsonaro, including suspicions of attempting to retain presidential power despite losing the election to Brazil's current president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. He will not be traveling to the ceremony in Washington DC.
Among those attending the ceremony in Washington DC are far-right politicians such as British Nigel Farage and French Eric Zemmour. Also, one of the leaders of the German far-right AfD, Tino Chrupalla, says he will attend. None of the leaders of these countries will be present.
