1960s band with Björn Ulvaeus at the forefront emerged for an evening backed by Niklas Strömstedt and Tomas Ledin.
It was quite magical. It's a fantastic scene, says Björn Ulvaeus to Västerviks-Tidningen the day after the performance.
Plans to take the visfestival audience on a journey back to the 1960s had been shrouded in great secrecy and Ulvaeus himself says that he was initially hesitant to step onto the stage.
At first, I thought "no". I didn't feel that I had the confidence to stand on that stage again, he says.
The group Hootenanny Singers was formed in Västervik in 1961 and consisted of Björn Ulvaeus, Tonny Roth, Hansi Schwarz and Johan Karlberg.
During the over half-hour-long performance with vis classics like ”Marianne”, ”Omkring tiggaren från Loussa” and ”Så lunka vi så småningom” the deceased members Schwarz and Karlberg as well as Stikkan Andersson were also hailed.
