A 10 weeks old infant has survived a fall of about fifty meters in the Austrian Alps, reports the radio channel Tyrol ORF.

The parents were hiking in Fiss in Tyrol with their baby in a stroller when the stroller started rolling down the mountain. It rolled over several times and the baby was thrown out and ended up in a meadow.

The Fiss rescue service was in the vicinity and could quickly provide first aid before the boy was taken to the hospital. Later, the hospital in Innsbruck announced that the boy's injuries are not life-threatening and that he will recover.

The police are investigating the incident, but the parents have not been able to be heard as they have been in shock. According to preliminary information, the mother tried to open a gate when the stroller started rolling.

The incident is being investigated as negligence towards a minor. They are also investigating whether the stroller had functioning brakes.
