Using a questionnaire with questions about names and associations, thoughts and conclusions about how Swedes perceive different names will be collected.
"If a text is about Theo and Torsten, do the names affect which two people the reader imagines? We want to know how ordinary people think about the information that can be found in names themselves," says Leila Mattfolk, a name protection consultant at Isof, in a press release.
In addition to the associations that different names evoke, the questionnaire also contains questions about places of residence and name changes, among other things.
The project is being carried out in collaboration with the Swedish Literature Society in Finland and researchers at the University of Helsinki. The results will be used in future research.
