The woman invited the former in-laws, the mother-in-law's sister and her husband to lunch in July 2023. The woman's former husband was also invited to the lunch, but decided shortly before not to come because he felt "uncomfortable" considering the tension between him and the woman. The couple was at the time still married, but on their way to separate.

The menu featured beef Wellington - baked beef fillet with mushroom filling. But instead of champignons, the filling consisted of poisonous death cap, one of the world's most poisonous mushrooms.

Three of the lunch guests became ill and died within a week and the fourth, the mother-in-law's sister's husband, became severely ill but survived the poisoning thanks to a liver transplant. The woman is convicted in the case for attempted murder.

The 50-year-old has in court denied the crime and has claimed that it was an accident.

I have not done anything, I loved them, she said shortly after the deaths.

She now risks life imprisonment, the sentence will be announced at a later time.

Relatives of the victims ask the outside world to be left in peace, according to the police.
