Orson Welles called his long-running film project his "child of the heart." But despite the support of greats like Frank Sinatra, it didn't work out, writes The Guardian.
Welles did not want to let the project go, and filmed until the very end. Countless scenes and a large amount of material still remain, and now film archivists in several countries around Europe want to collaborate to try to complete the film adaptation of Cervantes' "The Knight of the Sorrowful Face."
The rescue attempt has received the blessing of Oja Kodar, who was Welles' partner.
