The former national team player Anders Svensson is anything but satisfied with today's men's national team in football. He is particularly critical of the players' attitude. It feels like it's a lot of me, me, me, says Svensson in the podcast "Studio Allsvenskan".

National team captain Jon Dahl Tomasson received plenty of criticism before he was dismissed.

The men's national team's most played player of all time – Anders Svensson – instead directs major criticism at the players.

What shines through for me above all is that you are not a team. It feels like it has become that way nowadays. If you look at supporters in general, you no longer follow teams. You follow players, he says and continues:

One can interpret that from Robin Olsen's no. If I don't get to start, I won't be part of the national team, which for me was the finest thing you can be part of. And you weren't always a starting player, but you have to fight for it. It feels like it's very much me, me, me.

The 49-year-old wonders if the players really care as much as "someone else did".

They have it so good in their club teams, they earn a lot of money. Do they want to play for the national team? Is it important to reach the finals or do you get a slightly longer vacation, says Svensson.

Anders Svensson made 148 A-international matches for Sweden and ended his career in 2015.

Corrected version: In an earlier version, Anders Svensson's incorrect age was stated. It should be 49 years.
