After a long and successful career at the club as a player, Alexander Steen received a second assignment in St. Louis.
First he was an adviser, then a development manager, and for the last two seasons he has been an assistant general manager.
The 42-year-old will be given a new role for the coming seasons. He will become general manager.
Steen takes over the role from Doug Armstrong, who remains with the club as chairman.
Steen came to St. Louis in a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2008. Ten years later, the Swede helped the club win the Stanley Cup for the first time in its history.
