Alexander Skarsgård will receive the Stockholm Achievement Award 2025 at the film festival held on November 5-16. At the same time, his much-talked-about new film "Pillion", the queer biker drama with BDSM elements, will have its Swedish premiere.
The film caused a great stir when it was shown at the festival in Cannes in May.
We are incredibly proud to be able to present him as the award winner here at home, says the festival's program manager Beatrice Karlsson about the Stockholm-born Skarsgård.
It was previously known that this year's festival is dedicated to David Lynch. The director, who passed away in January, inaugurated the very first edition of the Stockholm Film Festival in 1990 with "Wild at heart", in which Isabella Rossellini played one of the roles. This year, Rossellini will visit the festival, which will show several of David Lynch's films.
Several notable films will have their Swedish premiere at this year's festival, including Benny Safdie's wrestling drama "The smashing machine" starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in the lead role. The director will attend the festival to receive the Stockholm Visionary Award.
Tarik Saleh's "Eagles of the republic", the third film in the director's Cairo trilogy, will also be shown at the festival. So will "Die my love", Lynne Ramsay's new film starring Jennifer Lawrence in the lead role.
