Sweden Democrats leader Jimmie Åkesson, commenting on the high-profile issue of teenage expulsions, said that young people who "have adapted and made Sweden their own" must be given a chance.

Åkesson writes in a debate article in Aftonbladet that the party is prepared "to discuss and find solutions, provided that it does not mean that we return to the previous lax order."

He further writes that "highlighted situations where young, well-integrated people risk being severely affected should be handled urgently," and that "murderers, rapists and security threats should be deported - while young people who work, study and in all essential senses have adapted and made Sweden their own must be given a chance."

In a post on Facebook, the party leader comments on another issue that has received significant media attention, an eight-month-old boy who is to be deported to Iran because, unlike the rest of his family, he lacks a residence permit.

"No deportation of the child will take place in practice. Anyone who wants to understand understands that. The family is kept together until it is time to return home, if that is what is relevant. This is an arrangement I can defend without hesitation. It is not a human right to live and reside in Sweden," writes Åkesson.
