AIK Tops Allsvenskan Despite Guidetti's Missed Penalty

And then there was only one unbeaten team left. AIK leads the Allsvenskan after 2–1 in the series final against Mjällby. Team captain Anton Salétros scored the winning goal. He sacrifices everything to win the match for us, says goalkeeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt.

In terms of play, the Solna team has not been without flaws in the opening of the men's Allsvenskan. The points have still been pouring in, though.

At home against Mjällby, until Sunday the only unbeaten team alongside AIK, came the sixth win in eight matches, 2–1.

Mjällby is better than us in large periods of this match. But three points at home, that's how it should be. Football is about scoring goals, says AIK goalkeeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt to Max.

At least the first half was clearly dominated by the guests, who also took the lead in the tenth minute.

Axel Norén hit a precise cross from the backline, Elliot Stroud ran in behind AIK's defenders and nodded in 1–0.

The 20-year-old's first goal

Mjällby pushed forward in several attacking waves to extend their lead, but instead came the equalizer in minute 23.

AIK's 20-year-old promise Victor Andersson got the ball to the left in the penalty area, quickly angled the ball to the right and expertly curled in 1–1 into the far corner.

I've been waiting for a while, and worked hard for it. It's fun that it finally went in, said Andersson to Max during the break.

Mjällby was closest to a 2–1 goal before the break when Jacob Bergström broke free to a clear scoring opportunity. Had he fallen when Sotirios Papagiannopoulos pulled his arm, it would have smelled of a penalty, but Bergström chose to stay on his feet and saw his shot saved by Nordfeldt.

Hammarby new second

The pride of the province is still playing like a top team, but now Mjällby has something that AIK lacks: a one in the loss column.

The deciding goal came in the 61st minute, when the match was hanging in the balance. AIK's Dino Besirovic tried a shot from distance. It was slowed down by a Mjällby player but continued its journey towards the goal. There, Anton Salétros threw himself forward, got a toe in and steered in 2–1 to the home team.

A captain who goes in the lead and sacrifices everything to win the match for us. Fantastic team morale. We're tough, says Kristoffer Nordfeldt.

In stoppage time, AIK was awarded a penalty after John Guidetti was fouled on the edge of the penalty area. Guidetti stepped up himself but Noel Törnqvist saved.

AIK tops the table on 20 points. Even Hammarby (1–1 against IFK Norrköping) passes Mjällby and is new second, both standing on 17 points.
