An agreement has been reached to allow Thai oil tankers to pass safely through the Strait of Hormuz, Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul announced at a press conference on Saturday.
Anutin added that the agreement will alleviate concerns about fuel imports.
As a result of the war in the Middle East, Iran has effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz, which is important for the oil trade. More than 80 percent of the crude oil and LNG that pass through the strait are destined for countries in Asia, and in Southeast Asia, queues at gas stations have been long recently.
Earlier in March, a Thai ship was attacked while passing through the strait.
