John Davidson could be heard shouting the "n-word" as actors Delroy Lindo and Michael B. Jordan presented an award at Sunday's British Film Awards.

Both actors said afterwards that they were deeply upset by the incident, and the BBC removed the gala from its streaming service because of what happened.

"We would like to thank Michael and Delroy for their dignified and professional conduct," the British Film Academy wrote in a statement.

Coprolalia, involuntary outbursts of foul language or sexual innuendo, is a symptom that can affect those with Tourette's.

John Davidson was there because the film “I Swear,” which is based on his life story, was nominated and won an award at the gala. He said he chose to leave the hall during the awards ceremony because he realized he was making other people uncomfortable.

"I have dedicated my life to supporting and highlighting people with Tourette's and to trying to promote compassion, goodwill and understanding from others and I intend to continue to do so," Davidson said in a statement.
