During yesterday's giant slalom, Shiffrin missed the top 30, and thus went out already after one run. It was a historic low point for the American.
But 24 hours later, it was a different tune for the 29-year-old, who could defend her lead from the first run in the World Cup slalom and take her first World Cup victory since November.
The World Cup victory also made history as number 100 in the American's career, where she also tied Ingemar Stenmark's record of 155 podium places in the World Cup.
Afterwards, it was a very moved Shiffrin who received the audience's cheers.
Thanks to all of you, you have been so kind and supportive. Teammates, opponents, and fans, she says.
The best Swedish performance came from 19-year-old Cornelia Öhlund, who delivered a successful second run, where she had the lead for a longer period. In the end, it would be a fifth place – which means a new personal best in the World Cup slalom. She previously set it in January in Flachau with a 12th place.
Noteworthy was also that her second run was 1.24 seconds faster than Mikaela Shiffrin's and also the fastest of all.
As for the other Swedish women, Anna Swenn Larsson climbed three places to an eighth place. Sara Hector had a tough day and dropped to a final 17th place. And Hanna Aronsson Elfman finished 22nd.
