Valerie Perrine was born in 1943 and began her career in the entertainment industry as a dancer at a Las Vegas casino.
She then appeared in the film adaptation of Kurt Vonnegut's "Slaughterhouse-Five" in 1972. Three years earlier, she had been invited to a party at the home of actor Sharon Tate, but was prevented from attending. It was the same evening that six people were murdered by members of Charles Manson's cult.
In 1975, Valerie Perrine was nominated for an Oscar for her role as the wife of comedian Lenny Bruce in the film "Lenny." She also played the girlfriend of Superman's nemesis Lex Luthor in 1978.
She was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2015 and died from complications of the disease. Valerie Perrine was 82 years old.
