”Jacob Ericksson was a warm and considerate person with great integrity – a quality that permeated his artistry. He never settled, never took shortcuts in creation and always delivered complex, deep and engaging role interpretations”, says Riksteatern's theatre manager Dritëro Kasapi in a press release.
Ericksson participated in, among other things, major films like Hannes Holm and Måns Herngren's ”Adam and Eve”, Stieg Larsson's ”Millennium” series and ”The Bomber” directed by Colin Nutley.
He became known to a large audience as the policeman Göran in the Guldbagge-awarded film ”Tsatsiki, mom and the policeman”.
Ericksson also stood on several of the country's foremost theatre stages. In recent years, he has played in, for example, Lars Norén's ”Time is our home” at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern and in Galeasen's production of ”Fanny and Alexander”.
This autumn, Ericksson would have gone on a Riksteatern tour and played in August Strindberg's ”Dance of Death”, but had to interrupt his participation due to illness.
”Our latest collaboration was interrupted by his illness, but our last conversation was about taking new steps when he got well again. It didn't become that. His presence, both as an actor and as a person, will be deeply missed”, Kasapi continues.
Ericsson passed away on Friday morning. He became 58 years old.
