Three climate activists who sprayed the prehistoric stone formation Stonehenge with orange paint last year have been acquitted in a British court, writes The Guardian.

The three activists, from the organization Just Stop Oil, faced a maximum prison sentence of ten years, but were acquitted on Friday after a ten-day trial.

Just Stop Oil is behind several high-profile climate actions, including activists throwing soup on Vincent van Gogh's famous painting "Sunflowers." But the Stonehenge action is the one that has generated the most attention worldwide and thus put the climate issue on the agenda, according to the organization itself - which said in court that the action should therefore be seen as justified.
