He is tied for third at seven under par, behind American Daniel Berger, who leads at 13 under par.
Åberg finished the second round with a 71 and described the course to TenGolf as "difficult and windy." He had the most trouble between the eighth hole, where he made a bogey, and the tenth hole, where he made a double bogey. He was still satisfied afterward.
"My game is going in the right direction. I missed some in the middle but managed to get some back at the end," he told TenGolf.
He shares third place with American Collin Morikawa. In second place is Akshay Bhatia, USA, at 8 under par.
Alex Norén finished the second round on par, with 72 strokes.
