Electricity grid costs are increasing at far too fast a pace, says the party's energy policy spokesperson Fredrik Olovsson at a press conference.
He lists what S believes are the government's and the Sweden Democrats' failures in energy policy.
– Tougher price regulation is needed, says Olovsson, who also wants the introduction of the so-called power tariffs to be postponed.
“Overcompensation”
The demands for tougher rules against electricity network companies' fee increases come after last week's announcements from Vattenfall and Ellevio, regarding increases in fees by 14 and an average of 5 percent, respectively, from the turn of the year.
The increases have been criticized from several different sources, including the Energy Market Inspectorate (EI), which believes that it is overcompensation.
The Social Democrats now want EI to be given a new assignment to review the companies' fee increases and whether they correspond to real, increased costs for investments in the electricity networks, not just additional profit-making.
Meetings with electricity grid companies
Last week, Minister of Energy and Enterprise Ebba Busch (KD) announced that she had summoned EI to the ministry to “explain the situation.” She also stated in a post on X that she had scheduled several meetings with electricity grid companies this week.
Corrected version: In a previous version, the wrong company name was stated. The correct name should be Ellevio.
