On Monday, there is still a risk that new water masses will move into Texas Hill Country, announces the meteorological authority NWS office in Austin-San Antonio on X.

"It's hard to exactly specify places where larger amounts of isolated rain occur. Further heavy rain will lead to rapid runoff and flooding", it says in the post.

Most of those who have so far been confirmed dead in the extensive flooding have been reported from Kerr County, where 75 people have been found dead. Of the 28 children who died, several participated in the Christian summer camp Camp Mystic right next to the Guadalupe River, which rose over six meters in less than two hours early on Friday.

"Camp Mystic mourns the loss of the 27 camp participants and leaders after the catastrophic flooding of the Guadalupe River", the camp writes on its website on Monday and continues that they are "crushed" by this "unfathomable tragedy".

Condolences from the King

On Monday, Sweden's King Carl XVI Gustaf sent a greeting to US President Donald Trump:

"The Queen and I want to extend our deepest condolences due to the tragic loss of human life and the extensive devastation caused by the devastating flooding in Texas", the King writes, among other things.

According to the TV channel, rescue personnel are still searching for at least 41 people who have been reported missing. Ten of them are children from Camp Mystic.

During a press conference on Monday, Kerrville's city manager Dalton Rice says that rescue workers are working under difficult conditions.

We encounter many technical challenges with terrain, with water and potentially also with the weather, said Rice at the press conference.

He also urges the volunteers who participate in the search efforts to withdraw if the weather conditions deteriorate.

"Do not want to cry wolf"

Republican Texas Senator Ted Cruz tells American media on Monday that one should now discuss why warnings were not issued earlier.

If we could go back and do it again, we would evacuate, said the senator.

At the same time, Dalton Rice describes the evacuation decision as "a delicate balance".

It's very hard to make those decisions, because we do not want to cry wolf.
