Among those who lost their lives were 25 people over the age of 65 and two under the age of 18.
"Unfortunately, we see no decrease compared to previous years. The number of fatalities is at the same level as the average for the last five years," says Khabat Amin, statistician and road safety analyst at the Swedish Transport Agency, in a press release.
33 of the deceased were travelling in a passenger car. Among these, head-on collisions were the most common type of accident, followed by single-vehicle accidents.
14 of the fatalities were motorcyclists, 9 pedestrians, 7 cyclists, and 2 electric scooter riders. Two of the fatalities were travelling in a truck, two in a tractor, and one on a snowmobile.
